We’re delighted to be collaborating with Doctaly who are revolutionising the GP marketplace.
Our new collaboration will allow us to offer our clients fast access to a GP in their area at a reasonable fee. This will result in quicker recovery from illnesses plus speedier referrals for diagnosis of medical conditions that need treating urgently to prevent deterioration. Being able to access a GP quickly will help patients utilise their medical insurance cover even if it’s just a referral for some less invasive outpatient treatment such as physiotherapy.
Doctaly is the UK’s first online GP marketplace enabling patients to book a convenient face-to-face consultation with an NHS GP on a private, fee paying basis. The model is similar to the existing dentistry model in the UK where dentists who provide NHS services also offer private services for payment.
With an ageing and growing population combined with a lack of funding and falling GP income, many doctors are leaving the profession. As a result of this, average patient waiting time to see their registered GP now exceeds two weeks in London, up 35% from 12 months ago.
The Doctaly model seeks to alleviate the problems on both sides, by providing additional flexibility and income for the doctor, along with access, choice and convenience for the patient. Doctors treat Doctaly patients at their existing practice, working around their existing NHS commitments, often seeing patients out of hours.
Paul Nugent, Managing Director of Nugent Santé commented, “We can see this exciting new service benefitting many of our clients, whether they’re in a company scheme or an individual one. The flexibility of the service combined with the cost should ensure people return to full health and their normal home and work lives as quickly as possible. Doctaly will also help reduce time off work and the subsequent costs involved with employee absence.”
